I am doing unfunded digital audio research and am hence interested in the
capabilities of CD-ROM players.

I may have access to a Hitachi whatever attached to a PC-clone, for
which we have the device driving software whatever.
This is inconvenient, as I am developing software on
Sun 4 (a.k.a. SPARCstation) and DECStation 3100s.

I would therefore be grateful for detailed information on the sofware
inteface to such devices and on the blah device driver.
