I am currently doing self-funded research into the applications of
computers to music (analysis and resynthesis of sound, leading to
polyphonic pitch tracking) and am using a Sun4's audio capabilities
(described as being of "telephone quality") but am using a DEC 3100
as a computational engine, as its floating point performance is
far superior.

Are analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters available for
the DECStation?  If so, can you recommend any bodies who might be
interested in contributing the device for the duration of my research?

I would also welcome your suggestions on MIDI interfaces and machine-readable
compact disc players.
