The incident which started the violence, a man being run down by a police van, was shown on the six-o'clock news on ITV, but was not shown on later news broadcasts. .LP This report contains transcriptions of conversations with people who were at the demonstration on Saturday, recorded from the 1st to the 4th of April 1990. The conversations are people's responses to the question: ``What did you see at the Poll tax march on Saturday?''. .LP They expose many incidents that are otherwise unreported, and shed light on the amount of control the police had over the situation, and on the question of what caused and inflamed the violence on that day. .AE
