This will be held at Queen Mary College on Monday 10th April from 11.00 to
17.00. There will be a buffet lunch with wine. The all-in cost (including
tea and coffee) will be 10 pounds. Booking forms will be sent out shortly.
It is intended to have some sort of tutorial session during the morning,
aimed at non-experts (i.e. NOT system managers only). Please publicize the
meeting to real users. If there is sufficient demand we may try to lay
on a repeat session on X-windows - let us know if this interests you
(no guarantee Lee can or will do it since he has not been asked!). Other
parts of the meeting will be reports from users on applications and a chance to
ask HLH questions about hardware or software

Dear OUG contact,

This letter is to remind you that the next meeting of the Orion Users'
Group will be held at Queen Mary College, School of Mathematical
Sciences, on Monday April 10th from 10.30 (coffee) for 11.00 until
5.00 p.m. approx. A registration form is enclosed: please photocopy it
for other participants from your site.

The Orion User group relies on one contact at each site being willing
to circulate information to all the users there. Please help us by
doing this. We believe the User Group can be of value to all Orion
users but it will disappear if the sites do not support it. Publicize
our meetings, and help make the efforts of speakers and organizers
worthwhile.

There is a change in the format of the meeting this time. As well as
the usual accounts of particular experiences in research,
announcements by HLH and a chance to raise software and hardware
queries and problems, we aim to have a couple of more tutorial
sessions, one aimed at users (this time on mail) and one aimed at
system managers (on security, this time). We hope these will be
attractive. As ever, volunteered contributions will be
enthusiastically welcomed.

The preliminary program will be \\
1030 Coffee \\
1100 Introduction to electronic mail (Malcolm MacCallum)\\
1200 System security (Steve Thomas - HLH, William Roberts - QMC, etc)\\
1300 Lunch \\
1400 Teaching service on Orions \\
1430 To be announced \\
1500 New HLH products (Tim Robinson - HLH)\\
1530 Tea \\
1600 Question and answer session (Steve Thomas and Tim Robinson)

The notes of the last meeting are enclosed.

We hope to see many of you on 10th.

Yours sincerely
\vskip 15truemm

Malcolm MacCallum

As explained, I will not be there, but Martin Guy (mg@ukc.ac.uk) is
planning to attend the meeting and is willing and well qualified to do
this.
