Here are several programs in 68000 assembler to run Conway's Game of Life on the monochrome bitmapped screen of an Atari ST. monolife.s Designed and programmed by Eric Bergman-Terrell, 1987 and does it by counting the neighbours of each pixel. gray/ is the 1987 transliteration by Jan Gray of the the PDP-11 code presented in "Life Algorithms" by Mark Niemiec, Byte, 4:1, January 1979. It does about 400,000 cell.generations/second but "can go faster". mg/ does it even faster with a hairy lookup table. Written by Martin Guy in 1988, almost certainly with further optimisation by David C. Wood of the University of Kent at Canterbury. mg2/ is a further optimised version of mg/
