As this seems to be a common enquiry, I shall reply to ukcnet. ----- The reasons why there are games on some machines and not others are not technical, they are political. Different bodies have paid, and continue to pay, for the different machines which are kept in the computing laboratory. It is up to each of the groups who hold the purse strings to decide what they want on their machines. Computing cost real money. Lots and lots of it. It is a widely held myth that everybody has the right to the widest conceivable range of the very best computing services, and that those services must be free. It is a good reflection on the generosity of those bodies, and the amount of freedom which the Lab gives users, that many people hold this false impression, but can cause pointless aggravation when people act upon it.
